My husband has a girl friend,
She was there before me.
They almost had a romance,
She’s as pretty as can be—
At first, I guess, it bothered me,
But only just a bit,
I reminded myself I trusted him,
And when we finally met,
My husband’s girl friend welcomed me,
With such a sweet embrace,
I saw nothing but pure happiness,
Upon her pretty face.
Her love for him, platonic,
As though he was her brother—
She’d never hurt our wedding vows
Or take him as a lover.
My husband has a girl friend,
I can’t reiterate enough,
That my husband’s girl friend
Is someone that I love
How lucky then for me to be,
The wife of such a man,
Who embraces me wholeheartedly
While taking by the hand,
A feminine perspective
That is not one of my own,
These friendships are rare, and special,
Too seldom are they shown.
